Invernizzini 2024 – Università Cattolica, first community meeting

18th December 2024 – First Community Meeting

For over thirty years, Fondazione Invernizzi has been committed to supporting and promoting the universe of research and university by funding projects, scholarships and university chairs, namely in the fields of economics, agribusiness and medicine. It has always operated in this direction, following the wishes and desires of its founders: Cavaliere del Lavoro Romeo Invernizzi, an innovative entrepreneur in the Italian dairy industry, and his wife Enrica Pessina, who supported science by rewarding deserving and passionate researchers and students ever since the Foundation was established in 1991.

Over the years, thousands of male and female students in three-year degrees, master’s degrees and PhD programmes at Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Statale and L. Bocconi Commerciale Universities have had the opportunity to continue studying and complete university and research careers also thanks to Fondazione Invernizzi’s scholarships.

For these reasons, the Foundation has decided to start a Community including those who have benefited from Fondazione Invernizzi’s support over the years, so that they can have further opportunities to meet, train, exchange and grow professionally.

Scholarship beneficiaries of the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore – Piacenza and Cremona campuses - had the opportunity to listen to the talk entitled Da Pinocchio a Masterchef, la storia del mondo e dei sentimenti attraverso il grano” (From Pinocchio to Masterchef, the history of the world and feelings through wheat) by Antonio Pascale, a writer, an essayist, the director of Coltivato and an agricultural inspector of MASAF.

In his monologue, Pascale recounted the evolution of the world in terms of progress and innovation in an ironic, funny and sentimental way. Changes that marked some pivotal moments in history, discoveries that enabled emancipation and disseminated well-being in society, dwelling on costs and benefits, as well as on dilemmas, of innovation and research in the agri-food field.

The evening ended with an interactive cocktail during which participants answered some questions aimed at building and improving the Invernizzini Community.
