Streamlined pest control in crops and livestock farming
12th February 2026 Integrated solutions for healthier crops and livestock

On Thursday 12th February at 4.00 pm, a conference entitled “Razionalizzazione delle attività di controllo dei parassiti nelle colture e negli allevamenti” (Streamlined pest control in crops and livestock) was held at Palazzo Invernizzi Conference Centre, organised by Fondazione Invernizzi in collaboration with Accademia dei Georgofili and on Prof. Tommaso Maggiore’s initiative.
PROGRAMME
The initiative served as a continuation and in-depth exploration of the conference organised by Accademia dei Georgofili on 6th November 2025, aimed at updating and integrating the latest scientific evidence on pest control in crop and livestock farming. The focus of the meeting was on new strategies available, in light of technological, genetic and management innovations, which are pivotal to ensure sustainability, safety and competitiveness of farming and livestock systems.
Following opening remarks by Prof. Giuseppe Bertoni, President of Fondazione Invernizzi, presentations were given by Prof. Tommaso Maggiore(FIDAF – Accademia dei Georgofili), Prof. Annalisa Polverari (University of Verona – Accademia dei Georgofili), Mr. Loris Alborali (IZSLER) and Prof. Silvia Colussi (ISZPLV). The presentations were complementary in addressing pest control in crops, assisted evolution technologies for plant pathogen resistance, proper health management in intensive livestock farming and the role played by genetics and genomics in controlling infectious diseases in the livestock sector.
