Sufficient and sustainable food: how to achieve it?

26th February 2025 – Toward a Balanced Vision for the Future of Agriculture

On Wednesday, February 26, a conference entitles“Cibo sufficiente e sostenibile: come fare?” (Sufficient and sustainable food: how to achieve it?) was held at the Conference Center of Palazzo Invernizzi, organized in collaboration with Professor Tommaso Maggiore, former full professor of General Agronomy and Herbaceous Crops at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of Milan Università degli Studi.

The conference featured the participation of: Professor Giuseppe Bertoni, President of Fondazione Invernizzi, Professor Tommaso Maggiore, Professor Paolo Ajmone Marsan from Milan Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, and Professors from Milan Università Statale: Dario Frisio, Matteo Crovetto, and Carlo Pozzi.

Fondazione Invernizzi - founded by spouses Romeo and Enrica Invernizzi, entrepreneurs in the Italian dairy industry - has a close relationship with the agri-food system, which is why it aims at giving its contribution to improving how society considers it. In particular, it aims at focusing on socio-economic, nutritional and health aspects, also in relation to its environmental impact.

In November 2024, the Accademia dei Georgofili and FIDAF organized a conference entitled “Razionalizzazione dei sistemi colturali e zootecnici per la salvaguardia ambientale” (Streamlined Crop and Livestock Systems for Environmental Protection). Its aim was to illustrate how to ensure food security for all populations while preserving the planet. The most relevant topics were explored by scientists who could provide reliable evidence: nutritional and on the health of plant and animal products, environmental sustainability, sociocultural and economic values, and potential solutions for improvements required.

As part of its ongoing efforts to support the agri-food system, Fondazione Invernizzi has shared a summary of the event hosted at its Milan headquarters, aimed at further engaging engaging "communicators" and decision makers.

The event brought together professors, journalists, trade and sector organizations within the agri-food field, associations, and foundations. The initiative is part of the Foundation’s programme of activities, made possible thanks to the Conference Centre at Palazzo Invernizzi. The Foundation is indeed committed to organizing and fostering cultural and scientific outreach activities to advance knowledge in the fields of economics, agri-food, and medicine.
